### Summary
About the Position: This position is located with the Operations and Readiness Division of Irwin Army Community Hospital
NOTE: Competition for this position is restricted by law to persons entitled to veterans' preference. If there are no qualified preference eligibles, consideration may be given to non-preference eligibles.

### Responsibilities
Serve as an armed security guard that performs various aspects of security work with a constant awareness of surroundings, making note of any and all activity that takes place in the assigned area.
Control entrances and movement of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
Exercise authority to detain individuals for misdemeanors, felonies, etc., based on probably cause for incidents that occur on IACH campus, outlying clinics or buildings.
Protects the staff, patients, property, information, and reputation of IACH.
Escort patients and staff as requested, to their vehicles or through the parking lot.
Monitors access to premises and restricted areas using manual and electronic identification methods and ensure doors, windows, etc. are secured as required.
Maintain contact and liaison with installation DA Military and civilian Police and civilian law enforcement personnel.
Monitor closed circuit television (CCTV) system computer.

### Conditions of Employment
This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is subject to applicant testing and random drug testing in accordance with DA guidelines.
This position requires you to obtain and maintain a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
This position is an inclement weather position which means you are expected to make every attempt to report to duty on time and/or reamain on duty during severe weather.
This position requires a satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical exam.
This position is subject to rotating shifts and/or irregular tour of duty to include weekends, nights and/or holidays.
This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
This position requires you to possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Loss of license may result in removal from this position.
This positon requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience with includes experience working with a Federal, State, municipal, local, or private protective organization that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life. Such experience must have knowledge of protective systems and techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Time in Grade Requirement: Generally, candidates meet the time-in-grade for the GS-05 level if he/she has not served on a temporary competitive appointment below the GS-03 level within preceding 52 weeks. Non-appropriated fund service, Non-General Schedule service, (e.g., WG) or combinations of certain other creditable service may be used to satisfy time-in-grade requirements when appropriate. Each case will be judged on its own merit.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons, pass an initial qualification, and must qualify semi-annually thereafter in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
Position requires employee to wear a uniform and/or protective clothing.
Must be able to obtain and maintain an Individual Reliability Program certification, per AR 190-56.
Must be able to pass, prior to hiring, a physical and mental examination and undergo annual physical and mental examinations to ensure fitness for duty.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Loss of license may result in removal from the position.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
Must successfully complete security guard training.
Must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
