This position requires employees to complete the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Sponsored Volunteer income Tax Assistance Training and Certification. The training is manditory and will be conducted from 5-9 January 2015 from 8 am to 5pm.

These positions are located at the Fort Riley Installation Tax Center. Employees will provide Tax Assistance Services to the Soldiers, family members, and retirees of the Fort Riley community. Normal work hours will be from 9am-6pm Monday through Friday and 9am-1pm every Saturday. There will be some part-time schedules available for some students who are unable to work full-time due to school obligations.

Current students in an accredited college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. Serves as an Income Tax Preparation Clerk for the Staff Judge Advocate Tax Assistant Program preparing both State and Federal tax returns. You will enter data from taxpayers supporting tax documents, prepare the tax returns and process them electronically to the Internal Revenue Service, timely and accurately, with minimal direction and guidance from the supervisor using the tax data entry program. Entries into the computer must be accurate since inaccurate data will result in extensive delay of the taxpayer's receipt of his/her refund. Upon successful transmission, you will file copies of the printed documents in the Tax Center and provide copies to the taxpayer. You will also electronically transmit tax returns and prepare reports showing the status of each return transmitted until receipt of the return has been acknowledged by the IRS. You will also answer inquiries in person regarding general or particular tax issues when preparing clients taxes, as well as schedule appointments for tax center clients as needed.

General
Experience: To Qualify for the GS-04, applicants must possess one year of general experience equivalent to the GS-03 grade level in the Federal Servicewhich included operating an electronic typewriter, word processor, microcomputer, or computer terminal to enter data; creating various documents or reports; and scheduling appointments.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
