HelpDuties Serve in the operating room (OR) as a member of the surgical team.
Provide surgical technician support for surgical procedures ranging from routine to complex, high risk or trauma cases.
Select, assemble and organize required supplies, equipment and instruments for specific surgical procedures.
Provide health care to all age groups (infants, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) served by the Operating Room.
Responsible for aseptic technique maintenance during the process of preparing for and assisting in the surgical procedure.
Follow pre-operative surgical care plan in preparing patient and Operating Room.
Clean operating room after surgery.
Select appropriate methods for sterilizing.

A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testingSelectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.

Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes acting as a circulator and scrub technician by preparing, assembling, organizing, and sterilizing medical supplies, equipment, and instruments for surgeries, and maintaining the cleanliness of the operating suite; and assisting in routine or complex surgical proceduresThis definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
